Feathers have always been so fascinating to me. Birds in general – I mean I named three of my four kids after birds – Raven, Phoenix, and Jaden (he likes to think his name is inspired by the blue jay).
David was named after David Bowie – that’s for a whole other blog post!
I digress (as usual!) – have you ever taken the time to just look at a feather? Each one is so unique. Like snowflakes.
Different shapes, textures, colors, sizes, and each one actually does have its own spiritual correspondence.
White feathers are often associated with purity, spirituality. They can be used as protection.
Red Feathers are used for health, bravery, and prosperity
Blue is known to enhance mental acuity, psychic awareness, serenity, and is also a source of protection.
Green feathers are used to attract prosperity. They also symbolize health, fertility and growth, both mental and spiritual.
Brown feathers by no surprise are earthy and provide grounding. But what makes brown feathers rather unusual is that depending upon their markings, there are different uses. Brown feathers mixed with reds or oranges are used for healing, including for healing of animals/pets.
Black feathers also have multiple uses depending on their markings and whether or not there are other colors mixed in with them. No matter how they are marked or mixed, they all contain one common factor – they all work as a bridge to spiritual awareness.
I’ve recently begun using a lot of feathers in my pieces, primarily in earrings, as you can see here. But I’ve also branched out to make a few necklaces as well.
Not all of these pieces have been added to my shop, so if you are interested in them and don’t see them listed, please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org and I’d be delighted to list them for you.
As always – you know I have to include a chapter about Supernatural. I’m gearing up for the VanCon 2013 taking place 8/23-8/25. This is going to be HUGE because not only is the hotel completely sold out of rooms, the event itself is completely sold out!
But that doesn’t mean if you’re looking to go you can’t – I’ve got a great offer!!!
A friend of mine and I have a room booked at the Sheraton in Vancouver where the VanCon is taking place. We are looking for a third roommate to help share the costs of the room to make it more affordable for everyone. So what would normally be a $600 plus tax hotel bill would be knocked down to $200.
Think that’s enough to get you interested? Guess what – my vendor table fee includes access for the entire weekend for myself. AND A GUEST. So for the cost of a third of a hotel room you get to share a room with two hip chicks and get into the VanCon FOR FREE FOR THE ENTIRE WEEKEND. Please note that this doesn’t include photo ops or autographs; you’d have to purchase these on your own. But think about how great this is! If you don’t have tickets, not all is lost!
If you’re interested in sharing the hotel with my friend and me, please drop me a line ASAP at email@example.com – FREE VANCON ACCESS – HOW CAN YOU NOT WANT THIS
Just to give you all a taste of the goodies I’ve got brewing, here’s a custom order I just made for a beautiful woman I met at TVDNJ last month. Her daughter is a huge fan of the Trickster character on Supernatural, so I designed a handstamped necklace for her:
I’m going to be making TONS of pieces as homages to our favorite SPN characters – imagine a silver bracelet with KAZ 2Y5 stamped on it. Or a silver stamped bracelet with circles that work kind of like SPN word association:
Dean’s bracelet would be:
Pie, Son of a Bitch, Eye of the Tiger, Jerk
Or other fun things that only us SPN lovers would get like “Fight the Fairies”….”Idjits”….”I’m Batman”….the possibilities are endless. And you don’t have to wait until VanCon to get these – if you’re interested, shoot me a line at firstname.lastname@example.org and i’d be happy to work with you on what you’re looking for.
The one thing (and VERY important thing) that I’m still struggling with is the airfare to get to Vancouver. I’m now offering a special discount to anyone who shares my GoFundMe link: http://www.gofundme.com/EldwennesFantasySPN
If you share my link, just comment on my blog below and show me how you shared it, and I will send you a coupon code for 10% off any item in my shop http://www.eldwenne.etsy.com (not including gift certificates).
But the gift certificates are special too – don’t forget that with every Go Fund Me donation, you will receive a gift certificate worth MORE than your donation amount! So if you donate $25, you will get a gift certificate for $50! $50 donations receive a gift certificate for $75 – $100 gets $125, and it just keeps getting better! And they never expire!!! They’re valid until you spend them, so there’s no pressure to use them by a certain date.
Donating to my Go Fund Me Campaign is not only about getting me to Vancouver – it’s about jumpstarting a woman’s small business. It’s about believing in what I do and giving me a tiny boost to realize this dream that not only will provide quality handmade jewelry to the masses, but help me provide for my family and build my business to the point of being self-sufficient.
Remember to swing by Go Fund Me at http://www.gofundme.com/EldwennesFantasySPN and my etsy shop at http://www.eldwenne.etsy.com
Thank you all for the continued love and inspiration!
