Feathers have always been so fascinating to me. Birds in general – I mean I named three of my four kids after birds – Raven, Phoenix, and Jaden (he likes to think his name is inspired by the blue jay).
David was named after David Bowie – that’s for a whole other blog post!
I digress (as usual!) – have you ever taken the time to just look at a feather? Each one is so unique. Like snowflakes.
Different shapes, textures, colors, sizes, and each one actually does have its own spiritual correspondence.
White feathers are often associated with purity, spirituality. They can be used as protection.

Blue is known to enhance mental acuity, psychic awareness, serenity, and is also a source of protection.

Green feathers are used to attract prosperity. They also symbolize health, fertility and growth, both mental and spiritual.

Brown feathers by no surprise are earthy and provide grounding. But what makes brown feathers rather unusual is that depending upon their markings, there are different uses. Brown feathers mixed with reds or oranges are used for healing, including for healing of animals/pets.

Black feathers also have multiple uses depending on their markings and whether or not there are other colors mixed in with them. No matter how they are marked or mixed, they all contain one common factor – they all work as a bridge to spiritual awareness.
I’ve recently begun using a lot of feathers in my pieces, primarily in earrings, as you can see here. But I’ve also branched out to make a few necklaces as well.

As always – you know I have to include a chapter about Supernatural. I’m gearing up for the VanCon 2013 taking place 8/23-8/25. This is going to be HUGE because not only is the hotel completely sold out of rooms, the event itself is completely sold out!
